Boxing Works, California, originally opened up in 1992 as a Western boxing gym but over the years, they have also catered towards Muay Thai & Kickboxing also. During the early days of UFC and MMA, there were not too many gyms that had the facilities for striking & jiu-jitsu, but also had the trainers equipped for the job. As such, many notable fighters and champions have trained at Boxing Works to work on their standup striking, including: Randy Couture, Frank Trigg, Dan Henderson, Vladimir Matushenko, Mark Beecher, Rodrigo Gracie, Lyoto Machida, Mauricio Zingano, Cat Zingano, John Marsh, Allesio Sakara, Mark Kerr, and Anderson Silva.

Boxing Works also has their own list of home-bred champions such as Janet Todd (ONE Championship), Jackie Buntan (ONE Championship) and Nathan Ward (Glory Kickboxing).

Despite their high calibre of athletes over the years, they are a gym that caters towards all levels. As 99% of their students do not ever step into a ring or cage, but are still trained by some of the best in the industry.

Boxing Works is a great solution to the age-old debate of 'Boxing vs Muay Thai'. Why not train both? And at an elite level. Combining western boxing with Muay Thai can help you harness a Muay Mat style (punching-heavy) which could come as an advantage against the usual 'slow-starting' Thai style.
